Airspace Impacts: Identifying Significant Volume of Operations

Identifying a significant volume of operations can assist in determining a project’s location viability and potential impacts early, saving you time and resources.

When evaluating commercial development or wind energy projects that impact a Minimum Vectoring Altitude (MVA) sector, the FAA has to determine whether the impact would affect a significant number of operations. One or more flights per week is considered by the FAA to be “a significant number of operations.”

• Analyze a year’s worth of FAA radar data in proximity to the project area
• Provide a count of affected aircraft operations
• Identify the likelihood of a determination of hazard based on airspace impacts
